The MVI56 IEC 60870-5-103 Master Network Interface Module with Reduced Data Block allows ControlLogix processors to interface easily with IEC 60870-5-103 Slave devices. This module uses a smaller data area for data transfer between the module and the processor, making it ideal for ControlNet applications. The MVI56-103MR module interfaces up to 32 serial communication devices with the ControlLogix processor. Two communication ports on the module act as controlling devices (Masters) to interface with controlled devices on their own networks. Each port is individually configurable. The MVI56-103MR is the ideal solution for many applications where IEC-compatible devices must communicate with the ControlLogix platform. Compatible devices include relays, breakers, sub-station communication modules and other serial communication devices. Functionality of the IEC protocol is very similar to the DNP 3.0 protocol which features time stamping and True Report by Exception (TRBE). These features allow the MVI56-103MR module to send a report to the processor without being polled, providing real time data transmission in critical situations.
