The Generic ASCII Ethernet Network Interface Module (MVI46-GEC) allows SLC processors to connect to any generic ASCII device such as bar code scanners, weigh scale interfaces, legacy ASCII protocol connections, terminal port emulation and printer drivers. The use of the TCP/IP protocol at the device level on the plant floor has become widespread. The MVI46-GEC takes advantage of Ethernet’s speed while also allowing greater distances between networked devices.
